Couples Counselling
Who Is It For?
Many couples find that, at some point in their relationship, they feel stuck, angry, hurt or disappointed.
These feelings may occur suddenly because of a crisis in the relationship – perhaps an affair, or family problems. However, they can also build up slowly over a period of time. Arguments happen more often, or you and your partner feel distant from each other, while sex happens less often or disappears altogether.
Our society paints a rosy, romantic picture of being a couple, and when things become difficult you may feel that you have failed, or that you made a mistake in your choice of partner. Counselling can help you both to remember what initially brought you together, and to move into a deeper connection with each other.
A Fresh Vision
Couple counselling can give you a fresh vision of your relationship by:
- learning specific communication skills to talk about difficult issues
- turning the crisis in your relationship into an opportunity for renewal
- understanding how old behaviour patterns with your parents are affecting your relationship
- exploring difficulties in your sexual relationship and possible solutions
- valuing the ways in which you and your partner are different
- developing a new vision of your life together as a couple
